FILM NOTES

Twentieth Century Fox and Lucasfilm released Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in May 1999, marking George Lucas's return to the director's chair after more than two decades. The film launched the prequel trilogy and became one of the most anticipated theatrical events of its generation, drawing audiences back to a galaxy far, far away with entirely new characters, worlds, and digital filmmaking techniques that pushed the boundaries of what was possible on screen.

This 35mm cell, titled Droideka, captures the Destroyer Droid in its unrolled combat stance within an interior corridor or hangar setting, mechanical equipment visible in the background. Across three consecutive frames, the Droideka holds its position, its distinctive wheeled form fully extended and ready. A precise record of one of the prequel era's most visually striking mechanical designs, preserved directly from the original theatrical print.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
