Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace arrived in May 1999 as one of the most anticipated films in cinema history, marking George Lucas's return to directing after a 22-year absence. Released by 20th Century Fox in partnership with Lucasfilm Ltd., the film launched a prequel trilogy that expanded the Star Wars universe to a new generation of audiences and pushed the boundaries of digital filmmaking and visual effects.
This cell, confirmed as the Lucasfilm Ltd. Logo Card, captures three consecutive frames from the film's opening moments. Each frame presents the familiar Lucasfilm Ltd. watermark rendered in yellow-green against unexposed black, representing the brief institutional signature that preceded the Twentieth Century Fox fanfare and the galaxy far, far away beyond it.
