Back to the Future Part II arrived in November 1989 from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, directed by Robert Zemeckis. Shot simultaneously with Part III, it pushed the original trilogy into ambitious sequel territory, sending its characters forward to the then-distant year 2015. The film became one of the highest-grossing releases of that year and remains a cultural touchstone for its imaginative production design and practical effects work.
