FILM NOTES

Back to the Future Part II was released by Universal Pictures in November 1989, directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment. A direct continuation of the 1985 original, the film took audiences to the then-distant year 2015 and into an alternate 1985, cementing the trilogy's place as one of Hollywood's most ambitious science fiction comedies. Shot on 35mm, it remains a landmark of practical effects and production design from the era.

This cell, titled Marty McFly, captures three consecutive frames from a single unbroken shot. Marty McFly, wearing his familiar plaid shirt, leans over industrial machinery in what reads as a workshop environment, while Dr. Emmett Brown is visible behind him in a yellow-orange jacket. The sequence preserves the natural rhythm of the scene across all three frames.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
