Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, continuing Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale's time-travel trilogy that had captivated audiences four years earlier. The sequel pushed further into speculative territory, imagining 2015 with a production design that became one of the most discussed visions of the future in American cinema.
