FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, continuing Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale's time-travel trilogy that had captivated audiences four years earlier. The sequel pushed further into speculative territory, imagining 2015 with a production design that became one of the most discussed visions of the future in American cinema. It remains a touchstone of late-1980s blockbuster filmmaking and a defining entry in the science fiction comedy genre.

This cell, titled Marty and Doc, captures Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly across three frames drawn from what appears to be a Hill Valley 2015 exterior sequence. The pairing of these two characters anchors the entire trilogy, and seeing them together in a single encapsulated cell reflects the central relationship the films were built around.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
