FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale for the long-awaited sequel to their 1985 blockbuster. Filmed back-to-back with Part III, the picture sent audiences to 2015, 1955, and an alternate 1985, cementing the trilogy's place as one of the defining science fiction franchises of its decade.

This cell, titled Marty and Doc, captures three consecutive 35mm frames from a single unbroken shot featuring Marty McFly and Emmett "Doc" Brown in conversation, with Hill Valley storefront signage visible behind them and Doc dressed in his memorable future-era patterned costume. The continuity across all three frames makes this a particularly coherent window into the scene.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
