FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale with the cast of their 1985 blockbuster. Shooting on 35mm, the production balanced practical effects with early digital compositing to realize its layered vision of 2015, 1985-A, and 1955. The film remains a landmark of late-eighties studio filmmaking and a touchstone of the science fiction comedy genre.

This cell captures Marty McFly in what reads as a diner or cafe interior, seated at a table or counter with a second figure visible above him. Three consecutive frames from the same continuous shot give the cell a quiet, observational quality — a still moment drawn from one of cinema's most kinetic time-travel narratives.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
