FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale with the cast of their 1985 blockbuster. The sequel pushed further into science fiction territory, depicting a vision of 2015 that became one of cinema's most referenced futures. Shot on 35mm, the film remains a landmark of late-eighties studio filmmaking and a cornerstone of the trilogy's enduring cultural presence.

This cell, titled Marty McFly Jr. and Griff, captures the tense confrontation inside the Cafe 80s between Marty McFly and Griff Tannen alongside gang members Spike and Whitey. The Japanese flag motif visible in the background confirms the Cafe 80s set dressing, while Spike's distinctive long hair anchors the foreground of the third frame. The consecutive framing across the cell offers an unusually close look at a single charged dramatic moment from this iconic sequence.
