Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale with the cast of their 1985 blockbuster. The sequel pushed further into science fiction territory, imagining 2015 as a world of hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, and layered social tensions. It remains a defining artifact of late-1980s Hollywood filmmaking and popular imagination.
This cell, titled Marty McFly Jr. and Griff's Gang, captures the tense confrontation between Marty McFly and Griff Tannen alongside gang members Data, Spike, Whitey, and Rafe against the backdrop of Hill Valley's Courthouse Mall in 2015. Three consecutive frames document the exchange with subtle shifts in character positioning, Japanese signage and display cases visible throughout, preserving a pivotal moment from one of the film's most visually inventive sequences.
