Back to the Future Part II was released by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment in November 1989, arriving with enormous anticipation as the direct continuation of Robert Zemeckis's 1985 original. The film's vision of October 21, 2015 became one of cinema's most referenced futures, and its dual and triple use of Michael J. Fox in multiple roles demonstrated the technical ambition of the production.
This cell, titled Marty McFly Jr. and Marty McFly, captures Michael J. Fox sharing the frame with himself, playing both father and son across consecutive frames from the same shot. The interior setting places both characters together in one of the film's most technically demanding sequences, a moment that required careful optical work to achieve what audiences saw on screen.
