FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale for the middle chapter of their time-travel trilogy. Filmed back-to-back with Part III, the sequel expanded the mythology of the original while pushing practical and visual effects work to new limits. It remains a touchstone of late-eighties studio filmmaking and a defining entry in science fiction cinema.

This cell, titled Marty, Copernicus and Doc, captures three frames centered on Marty McFly, Dr. Emmett Brown, and Jennifer Parker across what appear to be two distinct moments — intimate interior scenes shared between Marty and Doc flanking a frame that brings all three characters together, most likely during the DeLorean's arrival sequence that opens the film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
