FILM NOTES

Back to the Future Part II was released by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment in November 1989, arriving with enormous anticipation as the direct continuation of Robert Zemeckis's 1985 original. The film's ambitious triple-timeline structure and its now-iconic vision of 2015 made it a landmark of late-eighties studio filmmaking, and its 35mm photography remains a vivid record of practical effects work at its peak.

This cell, titled Marty and Biff, captures three consecutive frames from a single interior shot, placing Marty McFly and Biff Tannen together in what appears to be a shop or store setting. The plaid jacket visible in the frames is consistent with the 1985 timeline sequences, grounding this moment in one of the film's key dramatic threads. Three frames from one continuous shot make this a cohesive, readable piece of cinema history.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
