FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale for a sequel that pushed the original's time-travel premise into ambitious new territory. The film's vision of 2015 became a cultural touchstone, and its layered narrative structure — revisiting events from the first film — made it a technically inventive entry in mainstream Hollywood filmmaking of the era.

This cell, titled Marty and Doc, captures Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown outside a building marked 220, its striped awning framing the pair during the film's 2015 sequences. Doc's patterned coat is immediately recognizable to anyone familiar with the future timeline. The three frames originate from the same continuous moment, offering a sustained look at one of cinema's most enduring on-screen partnerships.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
