FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, continuing one of the decade's most beloved franchises. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film pushed practical and visual effects into ambitious new territory, imagining both a gleaming 2015 and a darkly corrupted alternate 1985. It remains a landmark of studio science fiction filmmaking and a defining piece of late-eighties popular culture.

This cell captures the marquee of Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise, the garish casino and hotel that dominates the alternate Hill Valley skyline. Biff Tannen's name blazes across the sign in neon and incandescent bulbs, a monument to unchecked greed. The three frames hold a continuous shot, with the middle frame carrying a visible splice mark — a quiet, honest record of the film's working life on 35mm.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
