Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale with their enormously successful 1985 original. The sequel expanded the franchise's scope dramatically, sending its characters across multiple timelines and imagining both a gleaming 2015 and a darkened alternate past. It remains a landmark of late-1980s studio filmmaking and popular science fiction.
This cell captures the marquee of Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise Casino, the garish centerpiece of the film's dystopian alternate 1985 Hill Valley. The sign appears three times across the frame, offering repeated views of the neon-lit facade that defines Biff Tannen's corrupted version of the town. It is a quietly striking piece of production design preserved in a single strip of original 35mm film.
