Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, continuing one of the decade's most beloved science fiction franchises. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film expanded the time-travel mythology established in the original, taking audiences to 2015, an alternate 1985, and back to 1955. It remains a landmark of late-1980s blockbuster filmmaking and a touchstone of popular culture.
