FILM NOTES

Back to the Future Part II was released by Universal Pictures in November 1989, directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment. Shot back-to-back with Part III, it remains a landmark of studio science fiction filmmaking, notable for its ambitious production design and its layered revisiting of the original film's timeline.

This cell, titled Marlene McFly by the operator, captures Lorraine Baines in a continuous sequence of frames, leaning forward in a domestic interior with venetian blinds visible behind her. The white blouse and auburn hair are consistent across the frames, suggesting a single unbroken moment preserved across the strip. A quiet, character-centered piece from a film better known for its elaborate set pieces.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
