Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, continuing one of the decade's most beloved franchises. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film pushed its time-travel premise into bold new territory, depicting both a chrome-and-neon vision of 2015 and a darkened alternate 1985. It remains a cultural touchstone of late-eighties cinema and a landmark of practical and visual effects storytelling.
