Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale with their beloved time-travel franchise. The film expanded the original's mythology by leaping into a then-imagined 2015, becoming one of the most anticipated sequels of its decade and a touchstone of late-1980s popular cinema.
