Back to the Future Part II arrived in November 1989 from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, directed by Robert Zemeckis. Shot back-to-back with Part III, it pushed Hollywood's approach to practical effects and production design into ambitious new territory, imagining 2015 with a density of detail that rewarded repeated viewing.
