Back to the Future Part II arrived from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment in November 1989, the middle chapter of Robert Zemeckis's trilogy and one of the most ambitious sequels of its decade. Its vision of 2015 — hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, layered television screens — made it a cultural touchstone that audiences still measure against the present day.
