FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale for a bold, effects-driven sequel that pushed the boundaries of practical and visual effects filmmaking. The film's vision of 2015 — hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, and layered urban spectacle — made it a defining artifact of late-1980s Hollywood ambition and cemented the franchise as a cultural touchstone.

These three consecutive 35mm frames capture Marty McFly in a futuristic interior setting, most likely the Café 80s sequence, facing the camera amid retro-sci-fi production design. A subtle lens flare appears at the right edge of the third frame, a small but authentic trace of the original photography preserved across this tight run of frames.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
