FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, reuniting director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale with the cast of their 1985 blockbuster. Shooting on 35mm, the production balanced practical effects with early digital compositing to realize its vision of 2015, 1955, and an alternate 1985. The sequel arrived at the height of the franchise's cultural reach and remains a touchstone of late-eighties Hollywood filmmaking.

This three-frame cell, titled Marty McFly, captures a continuous outdoor shot featuring Marty McFly amid surrounding figures and props suggesting a street or marketplace environment. Pulled from 35mm original film, the frames offer a candid sense of the production's layered, populated world as it unfolds around its central character.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
