FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released Back to the Future Part II in November 1989, arriving four years after the original became one of the defining blockbusters of the decade. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the sequel pushed further into science fiction territory, imagining 2015 with hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, and a transformed Hill Valley. It remains a cultural touchstone for its production design and practical effects work.

This cell captures Marty McFly across three consecutive frames drawn from a kinetic interior sequence, likely set within the film's richly designed future environments. The motion blur and layered machinery visible in the first two exposures give way to a striking inverted close-up, with colorful instrument panels framing the character in what appears to be a cockpit or futuristic vehicle interior.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
