FILM NOTES

Back to the Future Part II arrived from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment in November 1989, the first of two sequels filmed back to back following the massive success of the original. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film pushed practical and optical effects to new limits while cementing the franchise as one of Hollywood's defining science-fiction comedies of the decade.

This cell, titled George and Lorraine, captures three frames from a single continuous shot in which George and Lorraine share a moment near what appears to be a computer or electronic device in an interior setting. The frames run rotated ninety degrees on the strip, a common artifact of certain camera setups, and the composition holds nearly identical across all three.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
