Dimension Films released Rob Zombie's Halloween in August 2007, a full reimagining of John Carpenter's 1978 original. Rather than simply remaking the slasher mechanics, Zombie expanded the Myers mythology with an extended origin sequence, giving Michael a troubled family history rarely explored in the franchise. The film divided audiences but found a strong following, and its trailer circulated widely, building anticipation through its raw, unglamorous aesthetic.
