Lionsgate's 2004 adaptation of Marvel's Punisher arrived during a transitional moment for comic-book cinema, before the genre consolidated into franchise machinery. Director Jonathan Hensleigh leaned into the character's grounded brutality, casting Thomas Jane as a man methodically dismantling the criminal empire that destroyed his family. Shot largely on location in Tampa, the film cultivated a loyal cult following that its theatrical run never quite reflected.

This cell, titled Frank Castle - Armed, captures the duality at the character's core. The frames move from a shadowed interior crowd scene to a pair of nearly consecutive outdoor close-ups of Frank Castle — and his alter ego The Punisher — pistol raised directly toward the lens, green foliage dissolving softly behind him. It is a quiet, deliberate image of a man who has already made his choice.
