FILM NOTES

Lionsgate released The Punisher in April 2004, adapting Marvel's long-running vigilante comic for a post-9/11 audience hungry for morally complicated action. Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, the film leaned into grounded brutality rather than superhero spectacle, finding a devoted cult following on home video that has only grown since. It remains a notable artifact of the mid-2000s Marvel licensing era, before the studio consolidated its properties.

This cell captures Howard Saint across three frames centered on a single charged moment: Saint at a formal indoor gathering, holding what appears to be a trophy or award, a second figure visible behind him in the opening frame. The tight framing of the subsequent images isolates Saint and the object, lending the sequence an understated but telling portrait of a man comfortable in rooms built on wealth and influence.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
