Lionsgate Films released The Punisher in April 2004, adapting Marvel's long-running vigilante comic for a new generation following a 1989 cult predecessor. Thomas Jane's portrayal of Frank Castle brought a grounded, revenge-driven tone to the character, and the film found a devoted audience on home video that cemented its place in the early wave of modern Marvel adaptations.
