FILM NOTES

Lionsgate released The Punisher in April 2004, adapting Marvel's long-running vigilante comic for a post-9/11 audience hungry for morally complicated action. Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and starring Thomas Jane, the film leaned into grounded brutality over superhero spectacle, finding a devoted cult following that outlasted its modest theatrical run. It remains a touchstone of the mid-2000s Marvel licensing era, before the studio system consolidated the character under a unified banner.

The cell titled Spacker Confronts captures a tense interior exchange drawn from the apartment building sequences central to the film's second act. Frank Castle and Dave appear in close proximity across the first two frames, the unusual camera angle compressing the domestic space around them. The third frame shifts to John Saint and Dave, the consecutive action suggesting an escalating confrontation within the same location.
