Lionsgate released The Punisher in April 2004, adapting Marvel's long-running vigilante comic for a post-9/11 audience hungry for morally complicated action. Thomas Jane's portrayal of Frank Castle leaned into grief and obsession rather than spectacle, and the film found a devoted following on home video that outlasted its modest theatrical run. It remains a notable entry in the early wave of Marvel adaptations before the studio system consolidated around shared universes.

This cell, titled Frank Castle - Armed, captures three consecutive 35mm frames from an overhead or low-angle interior shot, the geometry of shadow cutting across the floor beneath Castle's dark-clad figure. The repeated framing across all three frames suggests a moment of stillness before action, Frank Castle caught in the threshold between man and Punisher.
