Lionsgate and Marvel Entertainment released The Punisher in April 2004, arriving during a wave of comic adaptations that tested how dark mainstream superhero cinema could go. Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and starring Thomas Jane, the film leaned into crime thriller territory rather than spectacle, drawing from Garth Ennis's grittier source material. It found a devoted audience on home video and remains a touchstone for fans who prefer their Marvel stories unvarnished.

This cell, titled Frank Castle - Armed, captures three consecutive 35mm frames from what appears to be a single interior shot. Frank Castle is seen in a low-angle or canted composition, crouching or leaning within a shadowed space, ceiling and window light framing the figure in a dark jacket. The sequential nature of the frames preserves a rare sense of motion frozen mid-scene.
