The Punisher arrived in April 2004 from Lions Gate Films, arriving at a moment when Marvel properties were being reconsidered as serious theatrical ventures following the success of the early Spider-Man and X-Men pictures. Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, the film took a grounded, revenge-driven approach to Frank Castle, with Thomas Jane anchoring a story more indebted to crime cinema than superhero spectacle. It remains a distinct artifact of that transitional period in Marvel's film history.

This cell, titled Castle vs. The Russian, captures the film's most physically punishing sequence. The frames move from a close shot of Thomas Jane as Frank Castle to the warehouse interior where Kevin Nash's imposing Russian dominates the space in his iconic striped shirt, grappling with Castle across the industrial floor under harsh fluorescent light.
