FILM NOTES

The Nightmare Before Christmas arrived in October 1993 under the Touchstone Pictures banner, produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. A landmark in stop-motion animation, it demonstrated that the painstaking frame-by-frame technique could sustain a full theatrical feature with genuine emotional depth. Its distinctive gothic aesthetic and Danny Elfman score earned it a devoted following that has only grown across three decades, cementing its place as one of the most distinctive animated films of the era.

This cell captures Zero, Jack Skellington's loyal ghost dog, suspended in a warm amber glow across three nearly identical frames from a continuous floating shot. His softly luminous pumpkin nose anchors the composition at the top of each frame while his wispy, translucent form trails below. The repetition across the strip conveys the gentle, unhurried drift of his movement, offering collectors an intimate and quietly beautiful portrait of one of the film's most endearing presences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
