Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and Disney. The stop-motion animated feature stood apart from conventional studio animation of its era, blending gothic aesthetics with musical storytelling in a way that found both critical appreciation and lasting cultural resonance. Its handcrafted production, requiring years of painstaking frame-by-frame work, made every moment of finished film a tangible artifact of that process.

This cell, titled Oogie Boogie, captures the villain in his subterranean lair surrounded by the production's signature practical lighting effects — the spinning roulette wheel and crackling blue lightning that defined his domain.
