Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, directed by Henry Selick from a story and designs by Tim Burton. The film represented a landmark achievement in stop-motion animation, bringing a feature-length dark fantasy to mainstream audiences and establishing an enduring aesthetic that continues to influence animation and popular culture decades later.

This cell, titled Santa Jack, captures three successive frames from the sequence set within Oogie Boogie's lair, where the captive Santa Claus appears suspended against the shadowy environment, his pale form and red suit visible against the dark background. The slight positional variation across all three frames reflects the painstaking incremental movement fundamental to stop-motion production, making multi-frame cells like this a particularly direct record of the filmmaking process itself.
