Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and Disney. The stop-motion animated feature drew immediate critical attention for its singular visual language and Danny Elfman's score, and it has sustained a devoted following across three decades, becoming one of the most recognizable works in American animation history.

This cell, titled The Mayor, captures the dual-faced civic figure of Halloween Town across three frames, with Undersea Gal appearing in the third. The Halloween Town environment is well represented, with the Mayor's distinctive cone hat, his rotating head, and the orange floral decorations and dark atmospheric staging that define the film's production design.
