Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and Disney. A landmark in stop-motion animation, the film brought a gothic sensibility to mainstream audiences and established itself as a perennial classic straddling Halloween and Christmas. Its handcrafted aesthetic, requiring years of painstaking frame-by-frame work, makes original 35mm frames genuinely scarce artifacts of a singular production.

This cell captures The Mayor amid the shadowed atmosphere of a lair sequence, his distinctive wide hat and orange floral detail immediately recognizable against the dark interior. The sequential nature of the three frames preserves a brief continuous moment from the scene, offering a rare window into the film's meticulous animation craft as it existed on the original theatrical print.
