Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and Disney. The stop-motion animated feature stood apart from contemporary animation by embracing gothic aesthetics and a darkly whimsical musical sensibility, earning immediate cult status and enduring as a landmark of the form. Its handcrafted frame-by-frame production required years of meticulous work, making original 35mm film material a genuine artifact of that process.

This cell, titled Santa Jack, captures Jack Skellington in a dramatically lit pose, his skeletal hands outstretched against a deep background with light falling sharply across his skull. Sally is also present within the frames, placing this moment within the emotional core of the story shared between these two characters.
