Produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick, The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993. The stop-motion animated feature represented a singular achievement in the format, blending Burton's gothic sensibility with a genuine musical structure and a visual language unlike anything in mainstream animation at the time. Its theatrical run established an enduring cultural footprint that few films of its era have matched.

This cell, titled Santa Claus and Santa Jack, captures the tense encounter at the heart of the film's central conflict. Across three closely related frames, Jack Skellington looms over Santa Claus amid a dense scatter of toys and holiday objects, the red of Santa's suit anchoring the lower portion of the composition against Jack's angular, towering silhouette. The third frame opens slightly to reveal more of the surrounding environment.
