Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and stop-motion studio Skellington Productions. The film arrived as a genuinely singular work, blending gothic sensibility with musical storytelling in a way that had no real precedent in American animation. Its handcrafted aesthetic and darkly whimsical world earned it lasting cultural standing well beyond its initial release.
