Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and stop-motion studio Skellington Productions. The film marked a turning point for animated features, demonstrating that the format could sustain genuinely dark, gothic storytelling for mainstream audiences. Its handcrafted aesthetic, built frame by painstaking frame, gave the production an irreplaceable tactile quality that distinguished it from contemporaries.

This cell, titled The Halloween Town Band, captures the ensemble of skeletal and monstrous musicians mid-performance in the film's characteristic amber-lit atmosphere. The frames document the Accordion Player, Saxophone Player, and Bass Player in motion across three consecutive images, with voice performers Greg Proops, L. Peter Callender, and Randy Crenshaw lending their talents to these figures. The slight positional shifts between frames preserve the stop-motion craft at its most intimate scale.
