Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released by Touchstone Pictures in October 1993, produced through Burton's collaboration with director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman. The stop-motion animated feature stood apart from conventional studio animation of the period, establishing a distinct visual language that influenced character design and dark fantasy storytelling for decades. Its theatrical run was modest, but home video and subsequent re-releases built it into one of the most enduring cult properties of the 1990s.

This cell, titled Sally and Halloween Town Citizens, captures three consecutive frames from a single interior shot featuring Sally and the Mayor of Halloween Town in a dimly lit setting rendered in warm amber tones. The tight compositional consistency across all three frames reflects the meticulous frame-by-frame nature of stop-motion production, where incremental movement between setups is preserved exactly as it appeared on the original 35mm print.
