FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as an extension of the global phenomenon that had overtaken television, trading cards, and playgrounds alike. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and remains a cultural artifact of late-1990s animation and merchandising history.

This cell, titled Mew by the operator, captures a luminous violet energy sphere against a near-black field during the film's climactic confrontation. A small white form is discernible within the glow — consistent with Mew's presence amid the psychic turmoil of the sequence. The composition is spare and atmospheric, reflecting the film's occasional willingness to let silence and color carry dramatic weight.
