FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original Japanese release the prior year. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became a cultural landmark of late-1990s animation, drawing record opening-weekend audiences and cementing Pokémon's crossover from video game phenomenon to mainstream cinema.

This cell presents Mewtwo in close-up, the character's lavender-grey torso and three-fingered hand filling the frame against a warm golden-brown field broken by streaks of white light. The low angle and tight composition give the moment a quiet, imposing weight, capturing one of animation's most recognizable antagonists in a distinctly intimate register.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
