FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak. Adapted from the globally dominant franchise, it became the highest-grossing anime film released in the United States at that time, drawing both devoted fans and curious newcomers into theaters and cementing Pokémon as a genuine cultural phenomenon beyond its game and television origins.

This cell, titled Mewtwo, captures the genetically engineered Pokémon in a low-angle composition against a deep blue-purple interior, conveying the brooding authority that defines his presence throughout the film. The framing reflects the deliberate visual language used to establish Mewtwo as a figure of immense, conflicted power within his fortress setting.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
