FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original Japanese release the prior year. Produced by OLM, Inc. for the Pokémon franchise at the height of its cultural dominance, the film marked a significant moment in the mainstreaming of anime for Western audiences and remains a touchstone of late-1990s animation history.

This cell, titled Mewtwo, captures the genetically engineered Pokémon in one of the film's most visually distinctive sequences, rendered in deep blue tones that underscore his isolation and power. Shot from a low or tilted angle, the frame emphasizes Mewtwo's suspended form against the cool, atmospheric background of his chamber, offering a quietly striking image from one of the film's most memorable passages.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
