Pokemon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as a companion to the peak of the late-1990s Pokemon phenomenon. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film represented a landmark moment in anime reaching mainstream Western audiences, drawing record opening weekends and introducing a generation of young viewers to theatrical animation from Japan.

This cell captures the Team Rocket trio dressed in their distinctive white uniforms bearing the red R insignia, photographed within what appears to be a darkened interior environment consistent with Mewtwo's island fortress sequences. The frame is oriented sideways relative to standard projection, a characteristic artifact of how 35mm animation cells are sometimes extracted from the reel during archival processing.
