FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokemon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, bringing the global phenomenon of Nintendo's pocket monster franchise to the big screen. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film arrived at the peak of Pokemon mania and became one of the highest-grossing anime features released in the United States, cementing the franchise's cultural footprint well beyond its television origins.

This 35mm cell, titled Ancient Mew Fossil, captures a moment of swirling amber and ochre tones that evoke the ancient, organic quality suggested by its name. The warm, textured abstraction reads less as conventional animation and more as something geological, a fitting visual companion to the mythological weight the Ancient Mew carries within the Pokemon world.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
