FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokemon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, bringing the global phenomenon of Nintendo's creature-collecting franchise to the big screen for the first time. Produced by OLM and 4Kids Entertainment, the film arrived at the peak of Pokemon's cultural saturation, drawing enormous audiences of children and parents alike and cementing the franchise as a generational touchstone of late-1990s popular entertainment.

This cell captures a moment from the Ancient Mew Fossil sequence, where the 35mm frame presents a warm golden-brown abstract texture, the photographic emulsion rendering the scene in diffused, painterly tones. The visual quality reflects the stylized, otherworldly atmosphere the filmmakers employed when evoking prehistoric mystery within the Pokemon world.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
